Public hearing on proposed amendments to Thai private company laws
The Department of Business Development ("DBD") of the Ministry of Commerce has proposed amendments to the Civil and Commercial Code relating to the manner in which shareholder meetings and board meetings can be held by private companies and has invited public comments up until 19 June 2009. The legal firm Herbert Smith (Thailand) Ltd. opened an online questionnaire to collect comments and suggestions. NTCC Thailand launches new website
 
We congratulate NTCC Thailand on their great new website. The brand new NTCC website contains a member directory and an event agenda. It allows online registration for all events. A special section allows members to post information about their company. Visitors to the NTCC website can view the news section, product launches, success stories, etc. The photo gallery is updated the day after an event takes place. The site enables you to read Commerce magazine online. NTCC Thailand posts CVs of Thai and Dutch Students and Graduates
 
With the launch of the new website NTCC Thailand has also started to promote both Thai and Dutch students looking for internships or jobs with Dutch companies, both in the Netherlands and Thailand. Outcome on the NTCC Thailand crosscultural HRM survey
 
On Wednesday June 24 Mr. Jean-François Cousin will present the outcome on the recently conducted survey amongst 120 companies and over 300 Thai and foreign respondents to collect tips on improving crosscultural teamwork. Survey on investing in the region
 
NTCC Thailand, in collaboration with their colleagues in Vietnam and Malaysia, is conducting a short survey on investing in Thailand and surrounding countries. TSM Bio Energy, World Bank Sign Emission Reductions Purchase Agreement
Thailand’s TSM Bio Energy Co. Ltd. and the World Bank on May 28th signed an agreement in support of a project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and produce renewable energy. Under the Emission Reductions Purchase Agreement (ERPA), the World Bank will purchase Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) in the amount of 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent from the company during 2010 – 2013. The World Bank will purchase these credits on behalf of the Spanish Government, using capital from the $278.6 million Spanish Carbon Fund it manages. The emission reductions will be gained through better wastewater treatment at the TSM ethanol production plant in Kanchanaburi province, Thailand. Sapthip, World Bank Sign Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement
Thailand’s effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote renewable energy gets another boost from the World Bank, with the latest carbon finance agreement signed on June 5, 2009. The agreement is between the World Bank and Thailand’s Sapthip Co. Ltd., which produces ethanol fuel from cassava chips. Under the agreement, the Bank will purchase certified greenhouse gas emission reductions equivalent to 375,000 tons of carbon-dioxide. The reductions will result from improvements at Sapthip’s ethanol refinery in Lopburi province. Netherlands Embassy hosts Luncheon for Finance Minister Korn
 
On Friday May 15th Ambassador Tjaco van den Hout hosted a press luncheon in the honour of Finance Minister Korn to illustrate the economic success and ongoing development of Dutch operations in Thailand. In the period 2006-2008 the Netherlands was the most important investor in Thailand and one of the major trade partners.
