Q&A with the Prime Minister

The Prime Minister has addressed Thailand’s investment community. At the meeting he took time to answer a number of questions that are reflected on the BOI website (see link below). The BOI also published an overview of both the long and short term measures that PM Abhisit wishes to realize. The measures include six tax measures targeted at SME’s, home buyers and other stakeholders. The objective of the PM on the short term is to reduce living expenses and increase purchasing power, better distribution of income and creating rural employment, increasing liquidity for business, minimizing bureaucratic channels and measures to deal with layoffs and unemployment by retraining labour in desired sectors. Medium to long-term stimulus measures include a disciplined and sustainable 2010 budget deficit, ensuring that approved projects proceed as planned and approval of and start up of long-term projects per investment plan.
